Música Erudita - Handel, Messiah (O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion)

Messiah é a mais famosa obra do compositor barroco alemão George Friedrich Handel (1685 - 1759). A oratória foi composta em 24 dias e divide-se em três partes.

No vídeo abaixo o leitor poderá ouvir duas músicas da primeira parte:

- Behold, a virgin shall conceive (Eis que uma virgem conceberá - Isaías 7, 14; Mateus 1, 23);

- O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion (Para anunciar a boa nova a Sião - Isaías 40, 9; Isaiás 60, 1);

Esta segunda musica, refere-se a uma profecia de Isaías sobre a vocação de São João Batista.

(Eis que uma virgem conceberá e dará à luz um filho, e o chamará Emanuel, Deus Conosco).

2 - O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion

O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion, get thee up into the high mountain. O thou that tellest good tidings to Jerusalem, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, behold your God! O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion, Arise, shine, for thy Light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

(Para anunciar a boa nova a Sião, subi a uma alta montanha. Para anunciar a boa nova a Jerusalém, elevai com força a voz,.Elevai a voz sem receio, dizei as cidades de Judá: “Eis o vosso Deus”. Para anunciar a boa nova a Sião. Levante-se, sê radiosa, eis a tua luz! E a glória do Senhor se levanta sobre ti).
